As a Fine Artist (painting and drawing), Ben had his art education at the Yaba College of Technology, University of Nigeria, Nsukka and University of Benin, where he graduated with National Diploma (N.D) in General Art, Bachelor's degree (B.A) in Fine and Applied Arts with Education and Master of Fine Art (M.F.A.) in Painting respectively. He started the Osondu, Soul Searcher, and Spirit of Africa series of dazzling artwork with strokes effect. Osondu series are collections of over 200 cultural heritage drawings.
Artist Statement
Ben Onuorah's artistic expression is characterized by intricate symmetric lines, patterns, and motifs that explore diverse socio-cultural phenomena. Drawing inspiration from the rich Uli and Nsibidi iconography and philosophical designs, his work conveys a sense of perpetual motion, creating a dynamic visual experience. These elements embody his intent to explore the complexity of the human mind and stimulate imagination.
Onuorah's artistic practice thrives on spontaneity, crafting narratives that unfold organically across various mediums. Each piece is a story that resonates with universal themes across cultures. Through his work, Onuorah celebrates African heritage and invites viewers to embark on a journey of introspection and discovery, demonstrating the power of art to bridge cultures, inspire thought, and evoke emotion.
